«We urge the deputies to continue to tighten the legislative regulations to combat anti-Semitism», Lozhkin

Today, on November 25, Anti-Semites vandalized the monument to Sholem Aleichem, which is located directly opposite the Brodsky synagogue, spray-painting it with the blood-red swastikas.

“We urge the law enforcement authorities to find the perpetrators as soon as possible, and the deputies to continue the work of the previous convocation of the parliament to tighten the legislative regulations to combat discrimination and anti-Semitism,” declared President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin.

At the end of last year, a draft resolution to strengthen the fight against manifestations of xenophobia and anti-Semitism was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, and in spring, the Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that Ukraine had applied for membership in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

“Such initiatives are intended to support the universal humanitarian civilization values and are not tied to the political processes, therefore, as a member of the world Jewish community, I hope that the new parliament will continue fighting for the rights and freedoms of every Ukrainian, regardless of one’s origin and religion,” emphasized Boris Lozhkin.
