"I have been heading the Confederation during six years out of this quarter of a century. It is both an honor and a great responsibility at the same time.
Six years of war; almost three of them have fallen on the biggest war that Russia unleashed under the absurd pretext of “denazification” of Ukrainians.
From the first days of the Russian invasion Ukrainian Jews helped with the evacuation, provided everything necessary for the internally displaced persons and refugees, added the Stars of David to the yellow and blue flag on their chevrons and joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The son of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine has been killed at the front, the brother of a close Jewish friend of mine has been killed, a pupil of a boarding school for Jewish children has been seriously wounded. There are hundreds of such tragic examples. According to some reports, thousands of Jews are now fighting in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The Righteous People of My City”, Kyiv Jewish Forum, the Institute for the Study of the History of Ukrainian Jews by Tel Aviv University, the book series the “Jewish Library”. One could go on and on naming the projects implemented by the JCU during 25 years. All of them have been successful, many of them are still ongoing. They are all aimed at reviving Jewish life in Ukraine, preserving the memory of the Holocaust, strengthening relations with Israel and the world Jewish Diaspora.
The main task for both Ukrainians and Jews today is to do everything possible for the approach of the victory. JCU will soon be holding the fifth international Kyiv Jewish Forum. The second one during the war.
Last year, KJF brought together representatives from both parties and houses of the U.S. Congress to urge them to maintain and increase their support for Ukraine.
This year, KJF's agenda is the same. Nothing is more important right now. For Ukrainians, for Jews, and for the entire world".
