Opening the Fifth Kyiv Jewish Forum, Boris Lozhkin, President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine and Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election and said that the results of this election were awaited in Ukraine and Israel.

“It is the United States that is now largely determining the outcome of the wars waged by our nations for their independence and the right to live in peace. I welcome the choice of the American people and want to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory. Ukrainians and Israelis have high hopes for the return of the administration that has previously demonstrated its determination to help both Ukraine and Israel,” Lozhkin said.

He recalled that during Trump's previous presidential term, Ukraine began to receive more actively military support, which later helped to counter the Russian aggression. With regard to Israel, President Trump has done more than anyone else in recent years, including facilitating the signing of the Abraham Accords, which brought peace to the Middle East, bringing it as close as possible to permanent reconciliation between Israel and the Arab world (the Abraham Accords are a series of agreements on the normalization of relations between Israel and Arab states signed in 2020-2021 – ed.)

However, Lozhkin emphasized that the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, wiped out all this, but now hope for peace has been revived.

As you know, the people of the United States also cast their votes for representatives in the US Congress, and the Republican Party won a majority in the Senate and retained a majority in the House of Representatives.

“I sincerely believe that the bipartisan and bicameral unity in support of Ukraine and Israel in their struggle for independence and peace will continue,” Lozhkin said.

The Kyiv Jewish Forum has been held for the fifth year in a row. This year it was organized in an online format, and Washington, D.C., is its the central venue. The Kyiv Jewish Forum is organized by the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine and by The Jerusalem Post. As Boris Lozhkin explained, this year's speakers and guests of the forum will try to find answers to the question of how to counter the modern axis of evil formed by Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
