Jews celebrate Pesach today.  It is now a Ukrainian national holiday too.

In Ukraine it became an official holiday already before the full-scale war began. At the same time this past year has made Pesach especially symbolic for us.

This is the holiday of freedom – this is the value of this day for Jews. Many centuries ago the exodus from Egypt and liberation from 400 years of slavery became a symbol of birth of the Jewish people.  Today the people of Ukraine are fighting for final liberation from slavery.

Chag Pesach Sameach!

May well-deserved freedom come with spring.

Boris Lozhkin,

President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine
