As President of the World Jewish Congress Ronald Lauder noted in a column on the Jerusalem Post, despite the first positive signals from some countries about a decline in the incidence and mortality of coronavirus, the world is still far from a complete victory over the pandemic. And besides, there are still many months ahead of us to overcome the consequences of the crisis caused by the global pandemic.

Today it is extremely important to support the victims physically and financially by those who are in their power to help them.

“The fortunate among us should stand by those to whom fate has been so cruel,” writes Ronald Lauder.

Vice-President of the WJC and President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin, in his turn, notes the incredible level of consolidation of the Jewish community of Ukraine in this difficult situation.

“I feel great pride in our Jewish community every time I find out that the members of the board of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine are helping doctors, patients and simply those who need help in these difficult times,” wrote Lozhkin on Facebook.

The head of the JCU thanks Andrey Stavnitser for establishing anti-crisis headquarters in the Odessa region, and his team of volunteers which has been providing the doctors of Odessa region with the necessary PPE and equipment, and the elderly people with food for the second month in a row.

Boris Lozhkin also thanks Hryhorii (Garik) Korogodskiy, whose Enjoying Life (Zhyttelub) Charitable Foundation organized fundraising and delivery of food packages all over Ukraine to the people who happened to be in lockdown due to the quarantine.

Participation of the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Israel Ofer Kerzner is also noted, who purchased 6 lung ventilators and allocated 10,000 square meters of warehousing facilities for free for anti-epidemic products.

Boris Lozhkin also thanks Mykhailo Brodskyi, who reoriented his production to sewing protective special wear for doctors.

Yulii Ioffe, according to Lozhkin, delivered personal protective equipment for medical staff in hospitals of the Luhansk region. And Liudmyla Rusalina is supporting low-income families, pensioners and children with food and protective equipment.

Many members of the JCU Supervisory Board purchased lung ventilators, as well as other medical equipment that Ukrainian hospitals so urgently need. Vadym Morakhovskyi, Volodymyr Kostelman, Ihor Surkis, Oleksandr Feldman, Vadym Yermolaiev

“Of course, I have not mentioned all. Many help incognito. But we can say for sure that the entire Jewish community of Ukraine manifests its best qualities in these difficult times. Thank you, everybody! Together we will win!” wrote Lozhkin.
