Boris Lozhkin: The aggressor has forgotten about the Holocaust, we remember

Russia, which in 2005 was among the initiators of the establishment of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, by its invasion of Ukraine has violated the basic principles for which this day was established.  The President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin wrote about this on his Facebook page.

He reminded that the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was first marked on January 27, 2006.  This was preceded by the adoption of a resolution of the UN General Assembly, which was initiated by six countries: Israel, Ukraine, USA, Canada, Australia and russia.

“It is noteworthy that the preamble of the resolution says: “The Holocaust, which led to the extermination of one-third of the Jews and countless members of other minorities, will always serve as a warning to all people about the dangers that are fraught with hatred, fanaticism, racism and prejudice,” Lozhkin said.

However, very soon, according to him, russia completely ignored the key meaning of the resolution, which it signed.

“The words “warning” and “always” for one of the countries that initiated the document have lost their relevance after nine years, in 2014.  And in 2022, the same country actually decided to repeat what it warned against in 2005.  They have forgotten, we remember,” the JCU President wrote.
