On March 18, the General Assembly of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress opened in Herzliya (Israel). On the first day of the Assembly, the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine was officially announced to join the EAJC, and Borys Lozhkin, JCU President, was elected as the Vice-President of the Congress.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress was established in 2002 and today represents dozens of Jewish communities on the Eurasian continent. The initial mission of the EAJC is to support the Jewish communities, to strengthen the ties of the diaspora with Israel and to help reduce the assimilation by educating the younger generation, based on the values and traditions of the Jewish people. In addition, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress was created to protect the rights and legitimate interests of the Jewish people, as well as to officially represent the Jewish communities of the Eurasian region in the governments of the countries in the region and at the international organizations.

EAJC President is a businessman and philanthropist Mikhael Mirilashvili.

“I sincerely support the vision of the Congress on protecting the rights and interests of the Jewish people in Europe and Asia. In these difficult times, when the level of anti-Semitism is growing throughout the world, we should be more active than ever, we should unite and support each other. Ukraine will fight against anti-Semitism and educate the people, ridding them of the stereotypes and prejudices that lead to intolerance,” Borys Lozhkin noted.

“We congratulate Borys Lozhkin, a prominent businessman and philanthropist, a leader of the largest umbrella Jewish organization in Ukraine, with the election as the EAJC Vice-President. We are convinced that by our joint efforts we will be able to do more to the flourishing of the Jewish education and culture, as well as to help the needy and strengthen the ties between the Jewish community of Ukraine, which gave the world many prominent representatives of our people, and the state of Israel. We pay tribute to the past, we work nowadays, and are aimed at the future,” noted Mikhael Mirilashvili.
