The second book has been published in the launched recently on the initiative of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine “Jewish Library” series. This time, for the first time in Ukrainian, the autobiography of the fourth Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Golda Meir, has been published. As JCU President Boris Lozhkin explained, the first Ukrainian translations of the world bestsellers about Israel and prominent Jews are a distinctive feature of the entire “Jewish Library” series.

The new book series is published with the support of the Boris Lozhkin Charitable Foundation, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and the Ostrozky Princes Foundation of the family of Yuriy and Iryna Lutsenko.

According to Lozhkin, the life story of Golda Meir closely coincides with the history of the birth and formation of Israel. Like tens of thousands of Jews, she emigrated from the tsarist Russia because of the Jewish pogroms, became interested in the ideas of Zionism, took part in the development of the lands of Eretz Israel and in the struggle for independence. After gaining independence, she devoted herself to preserving the young Jewish state.

“All these stages, which were directly witnessed and participated in by Golda Meir, are described in a lively and fascinating manner by herself in the book, which became a bestseller immediately after its first publication in 1973,” Lozhkin said of the new book.

My Life by Golda Meir is one of the best memoirs of the twentieth-century politicians. Now, thanks to the JCU, the life story of one of the most prominent figures in the history of modern Israel, a signatory to the Declaration of Independence, the fourth Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Golda Meir from Kyiv, has become available to the Ukrainian readers and in Ukrainian.

As a reminder, the first book in the “Jewish Library” series, published by “Our Format” publishing house, is the work of Dr. Daniel Gordis, “Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn”.
