Among the leaders of leading Jewish organizations, I have taken part in an online meeting with the head of the Office of the President Andrii Yermak, said Boris Lozhkin, President of the JCU.
There was a discussion on what needs to be done for Israel to start supplying weapons to Ukraine, primarily air defense and missile defense systems necessary to protect Ukraine from the barbaric Russian shelling. “Russia is the European Hezbollah,” Yermak succinctly put it.
At the same time Natan Sharansky sees the current actions of Russia as a challenge to the entire civilized world. Therefore, military assistance to Ukraine from Israel, Sharansky is convinced, has to be provided: “The people of Ukraine need this, but we also need it being part of the free world, because Putin has encroached on the foundations of the free world and wants to deprive us of this freedom.”
The Chief Rabbi of Kyiv and Ukraine, Yaakov Dov Bleich, proposed the creation of an international committee of Jews in support of Ukraine in the fight against terror and address the government and people of Israel with an appeal to support Ukraine.
P.S. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz yesterday announced the provision of missile early warning systems to Ukraine. We very much hope that the influence of Jewish leaders on Israel will hasten the time when arms deliveries will also begin.
