The Jewish Confederation of Ukraine is shocked by the affirmation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Serhiy Lavrov about the alleged desire of the West to "finally resolve the Russian question". We consider this thesis to be nothing more than a rude and deliberate denial of the Holocaust.
According to Lavrov, the coalition of democratic countries that united to provide aid to Ukraine is not aimed at protecting Ukrainians from Russian aggression, but to exterminate Russians. In this way, the aggressor tries to present himself as a victim in the war he started.
Lavrov's use of the definition "final solution of the issue" is particularly scandalizing. This definition unequivocally refers to the events of eighty years ago, when Nazi Hitler wanted to solve such a question in relation to the Jews. Everyone remembers how it ended. Probably, this is known to the minister himself - six million victims, annihilated because of the absurd ideas of a maniac dictator, an odious fascist.
Today, a representative of Russia, ruled by a modern maniac dictator, tries to use this definition to justify the heinous and cruel actions of his aggressor country.
We consider this as an open insult to the memory of six million victims of the Holocaust, as well as a direct insult to their descendants.
The Jewish Confederation of Ukraine stands in solidarity with the Jewish communities of the world, which also strongly condemned the statement of the Russian Foreign Minister, and joins the demand for an apology to all Jews.
Such an apology will be especially relevant at the eve of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
