Statement of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine

22/11/2019

The Jewish Confederation of Ukraine is indignant at the unworthy content of the “Grupa Prodovzhenoho Dna” program, which showed a “satirical” cartoon with an anti-Semitic context, mocking the president of the United Jewish Community of Ukraine.

The main mission of our public organization is to protect the Jews of Ukraine both at home and abroad, to remember the victims of the Holocaust and the heroes who saved Jews, to develop the Jewish culture and education, to preserve the Jewish heritage.

We are not indifferent to the fate of any Jew, and we stand on the protection of the rights of the Jews of Ukraine. We are against any manifestation of xenophobia against citizens of any nationality.

This cartoon clearly shows the anti-Semitic nature of its creators, who mock the memory of six million brutally tortured Jews during the Second World War, among them 1,500,000 were exterminated during the Holocaust in Ukraine.

We are deeply concerned about the activities of the group that created the cartoon with such unacceptable content, and we urge to be vigilant and fight against all manifestations of anti-Semitism and xenophobia.
